Artist/Designer Statement
Building on a tradition of American art and literature that runs from Walt Whitman to Bruce Springsteen, my work explores the American experience, and, as Springsteen once said of his songs, measures “the distance between the American dream and the American reality.”
Through a mixture of landscape, still life and portraiture both candid and constructed, I examine, from an emotional and psychological perspective, my experience as a working class man. For me, this is an experience defined by longing, loneliness and frustration, offering occasional glimpses of redemption.
