Meredith Dallas is an artist from the southeastern United States whose practice employs numerous materials, including traditional sculpture materials, everyday detritus, and social media. She received her BFA from Winthrop University in Rock Hill, SC in 2015, then went on to study welding at York Technical College before receiving her MFA from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2020. Dallas’s roles as both fabricator and commercial printer have informed the material of her work. Her practice falls between the autobiographical and the universal, everyday experience, featuring glitz, sexuality, humor, and violence. Her work relies on process and materiality to attempt to preserve the indiscernible, to sustain desire and longing. She embraces irrationality and impulsivity as a part of her studio practice.
